Three new mosaic benches have been installed on Walnut Tree Road, brightening the street and celebrating Erith’s unique heritage and wildlife.
The benches were designed by Bexley-based Gallery 32 in collaboration with artist Katie Surridge, following feedback from local stakeholders who wanted a creative element incorporated into the public realm improvements. The designs were inspired by workshops with local young people and the wider community. Participants explored Erith’s history, local birdlife and traditional Roman mosaic-making techniques, helping to shape the final designs.
