NEWLY IMPROVED ERITH PIER SQUARE NOW OPEN

The expanded and revitalised focal space known as Erith Pier Square provides a variety of new seating and enhanced lighting, together with trees to provide shade, shelter and habitats.

It has been landscaped at different levels to provide better views over the river and Erith Pier.

The central space also provides better walking and cycling connections to the Pier and Thames Path while remaining flexible to host public events.

The space is available to hire for events and has already hosted the successful Erith Made Festival.

Councillor Munur, Bexley’s Cabinet Member for Growth, said:

Pier Square is one of the main public spaces in Erith but was under-used and tired. It was cluttered with old street furniture, trees that no longer suited the size of the area and did not offer attractive activities or features. The newly improved Pier Square provides better seating, lighting, greenery and views over the river Thames. I hope that residents enjoy the improvements!”

The improvements were funded by the Council and Transport for London through the Local Implementation Plan and are part of the wider Erith Links programme, which aims to improve streets and spaces across the town.
