From River Wall to Riverside Art in Erith

Bexley’s Placemaking team has partnered with artist Emma Louise Moore to give new life to reclaimed granite from the Kensington and Chelsea embankment flood wall, as part of the Tideway Project.

Instead of being discarded, these historic stones have been transformed into playful features at Riverside Gardens and unique seating along Walnut Tree Road, bringing sustainability and creativity into Erith’s public realm.

Each piece is carved with tactile wave and ripple patterns inspired by the shapes of the local mudflats as well as local workmanship and craft, reflecting the movement of the river and celebrating the area’s riverside heritage and character.

Come and explore the space and enjoy Emma Louise Moore’s creative work!
