Council invites residents to have their say on early design ideas for Walnut Tree Road

The Council is developing designs for Walnut Tree Road in Erith to help make it a greener and more liveable street.

Working with consultants, Studio ONB, the designs follow ‘Healthy Streets’ principles to make Walnut Tree Road a safer and cleaner key arrival point in the town forming a main route between the station, the town, and the river.

Separately there are further improvement works to the wider area including the upcoming development on the former Walnut Tree Depot site, and the closure of the pedestrian subway between the train station and Pier Road.

The Council aims to work with local people to develop a distinct identity for the space and to provide the former Carnegie Library with a public space that reflects its cultural importance within the town.

Studio ONB is presenting its early ideas for the street and explaining how the community can become involved with the planned creative workshops through the summer.

Presentation boards will be on display at The Exchange, Walnut Tree Road, Erith DA8 1RS from 12 noon to 4pm on Saturday 3, Wednesday 7 and Sunday 11 June.

More information and details about the creative workshops will be available shortly.
