As part of the project to renovate Pier Square, London Borough of Bexley has issued an open call to artists and designers and is asking for creative ideas to be submitted that will enhance the design, add to the renovation and benefit the local community.
The Council have worked closely with architects BDP on new concept designs for Pier Square and wants to create an inclusive public area that provides space for leisure and play. To further enhance the proposed designs for the entrance to the Pier, they want artists to submit proposals for features that represent Erith’s heritage and inspire excitement for its future.
If the plans to renovate Pier Square are approved the winning artist will be awarded the commission to deliver their ideas within a set budget. Students from The Cass School of Architecture at London Metropolitan University have helped to develop the brief for this creative opportunity and will be part of the selection panel. The students studied Erith’s history and regeneration potential during 2018 and their work culminated in an exhibition at The Exchange in 2019.
The deadline for submissions will be Sunday 22 March 2020.
